In 1915 Ray Atlee Ford created the Ford Transfer Company. Originating in Council Bluffs, providing storage and hauling services of flour, rice, grain and other bulk products to local grocers.
After his brother Roy Virgil Ford returned from WWI they formed a partnership business where Ray operated the storage side of the business and Roy operated the delivery side. Shortly thereafter the brother's business boomed due to the industrial revolution and they created a network of national delivery lines. This surge in business created a need for much more storage so they leased and later purchased 1024 Dodge street in the heart of Downtown Omaha Nebraska...
Later to be known as the Ford lofts.
Years later in 2006, this storage building was converted to Condominiums. This conversion was a 13 million dollar project creating 64 Condominium units including one, two and three bedroom lofts of up to 2800 square feet in size.
